AEC Assistant is built in Melbourne by two architects who spent a decade each looking things up in the Code, and decided the looking-up should be faster and better cited.
Why
The National Construction Code runs to three volumes and thousands of pages, changes with every edition, and is adopted on a different date and with different variations in each state and territory. The standards it references sit behind it, and the planning scheme sits in front. Finding the provision that governs a decision is slow, and being sure it is the current one is slower.
What we built
An assistant that answers from the source documents and cites the clause it relied on. Projects that hold your drawings, reports and permits, so a question can be answered against your set and the Code together. And free calculators for the numbers that come up on most jobs, from NCC stairs to AS/NZS 3500 box gutters.
How we work
Sources first: the assistant searches the documents rather than recalling them. Every figure is cited so it can be checked. Where a number matters, the calculation is deterministic code, with every table checked against its source and tested, not an estimate.
